Lovers Rock Sundays

Selector King started listening to reggae music at ten years old. Living alone with his father, he had all the time in the world, with rules less enforced. Music soon became a passion, and all sorts of genres were on the playlist — from classical to heavy metal. But reggae caught his attention, and he was soon playing cassettes with Gemini Sounds, Black Scorpio and Stone Love.

Like many, his first DJ experience was in the bedroom with a double tape player, mixing cassettes without headphones. He soon realized he had a skill and started gathering vinyl records. Up next was the sound system — BlackStone Hi Power — which quickly became a force to reckon with. Selector King went on to host radio shows at multiple radio stations in Trinidad and Tobago.
